Washington County Bicycle Transportation Coalition: The mission of the WashCo BTC is to promote bicycle transportation, protect bicyclists' rights and improve bicycling conditions throughout Washington County, Oregon through education, advocacy and community.

Below you will find various photos from our events, programs and other activities, as well as our Bicycle Center. Enjoy!
The Bike Center: The community bicycle center is where anyone can repair a bike, buy a used one, and learn how and where to ride. We also offer classes, training, advice, and group rides. See our Bike Center page for more information.
Grand Opening: On Oct. 3-4, 2008, WashCo BTC was proud to open a community center that offers "anything bicycle" here in Washington County, Oregon. The event was a huge success, partnering with the Beaverton Chamber of Commerce, in an exciting celebration of all our hard work and dedication!
WashCo BTC has been providing free of charge bicycle safety inspections. During seasonal times of the year, we also feature inspections, booths, and helmet fittings at additional locations, including local Farmer's Markets and other community events.
In June 2007, Tim O'Donnell, 66, was struck and killed while riding his bicycle with a group of friends. This tragedy brought increased attention to the safety of cyclists using Washington County roads. WashCo BTC, working with The Bicycle Transportation Alliance (BTA) and other sponsors, spearheaded an effort to increase awareness of bicycle safety issues. The campaign includes life-sized cutouts of people with their bikes that will remind motorists that bicyclists are their relatives, friends, coworkers and neighbors, "and we bike". The message is, "Be careful; the cyclist could be someone you know."
Traffic Awareness Days: The campaign featured roadside events at various high traffic intersections wth volunteers holding signs to raise awareness of bicycles on roadways, as well as to promote the campaign.
Life-Size Cutouts: Throughout the campaign, we have been featuring life-size informational cutouts, which also contain brochures and safety tips, at area businesses, community centers, town halls, and other locations. Check 'em out!
WashCo BTC is an important organizer of the local Ride of Silence each May. Join cyclists worldwide in a silent slow-paced ride (max. 12 mph/20 kph) in honor of those who have been injured or killed while cycling on public roadways.
